Top Tips for Luscious Locks

It’s a rough time of year for you skin and hair. Let us give you some tips on how to keep your hair happy during these frigid temps!

1. don't wash too often - if you have to shower every day, try investing in a co-wash so you don't have to use a shampoo every day. Shampoo is harsher on your hair and strips  healthy oils that your hair needs. Our favourite? Try Restore by Kevin Murphy.

2. condition - did you know when using Kevin Murphy conditioners, you are recommended to leave about 70% of the conditioner in your hair? This allows it to act as a treatment as well!

3. Invest in a serum. - young again serum is liquid gold. We've seen it transform fried bleached hair. Use on wet and dry hair, fresh out of the shower to a touch on the ends to complete a styled look!

4. brush your hair. - using a wide tooth comb or a nice brush, comb through your hair. This will naturally disperse your oils to condition your hair. When you don't brush, the oils will build up at your root making it seem like you need to wash again! We carry all sorts of brushes and combs for your picking.

5. Get the occasional trim. - The point of our clean up service is to keep your ends looking fresh. $10 gets you a 15 minute dry trim to help you out with all your split end needs. Book a clean up today!

Long, longer, longest... We are now offering Hotheads extensions at the shop now folks!  Extensions are a fun way to change-up your look!  The specific brand we are promoting right now is ultra gentle, easy to take in and out, and won't keep you at the shop for 6 hours!

Long, Long, Long Many of us have, at one point or another, tried to grow out our hairs.  We've all said it, "I want to grow it long, I want to be able to pull it up for the summer."  Between the explosion of the 'sock bun of 2012' and the new resurgence of the braid, many of us are desperately trying to get our lengths as lengthy as possible.

There's no secret to it.  Just don't cut it.  It'll grow, it'll be long and luscious in NO TIME.  If you're going to go this route make sure you are not hot styling your hair regularly.  (If you are using up to two hot tools every time you wash and style, you won't be able to get any decent length because you'll need to be getting regular trims.)  Regular trims will keep your hair at the same length.  You're basically trimming off what has grown.

Even if you are using the best products to protect your hair from the heat, you'll need to get regular trims so your ends won't split.  If you can set aside some time to let your hair air dry, or even style it without heat you'll be surprised how fast your length will come.  For those of you who are addicted to hot tools maybe cutting down their use will help develop some length.  I'm not sayin', I'm just sayin'...
