Freshair Boutique's hair trends for 2013

freshairboutique

It's a new year and therefore, time for some new hair?  Everyone wants to know what the new trends are anticipating that they will be able to partake in something exciting. Last year I can think of three main trends.  Ombré, long thick bangs, and top knots.  We will still be seeing these looks but just modified a bit.  Winnipeg is not the hot spot for trend setting but when we are comfortable with a look we will rock it (even though it may be 6-12 months behind).  It's okay 'Peg city, at least we try right?

This season look for short blunt bangs.

Ombré will be modified to fade to unnatural colors, similar to last year, but also full heads of unnatural colors as well.

all pink everything

At the shop the trends are a bit different.  We've been doing the pink and the violet thing, and are starting to grow out the fringe area for a more a nineties bang.  We call it the nineties flip.  I love this look because it's so versatile and can work on most hair types.

I love this!!

Stay tuned for some more looks as the trends roll out till the spring.  By the spring time I hope that you may have found a little something to try!  Chat with your stylist about what trend might suit your hairs!

Happy New Year! Countdown-to-Fabulous-Dazzling-Styles-for-New-Years-Eve

I hope you all had a great week, and spent the eve of the beginning of the year doing something that you enjoy with people you enjoy.  Here we go again, and let's make it a good one!

My New Year's resolution

I will not throw the cat out the window Or put a frog in my sister's bed I will not tie my brother's shoelaces together Nor jump from the roof of Dad's shed I shall remember my aunt's next birthday And tidy my room once a week I'll not moan at Mum's cooking (Ugh! fish fingers again!) Nor give her any more of my cheek. I will not pick my nose if I can help it I shall fold up my clothes, comb my hair, I will say please and thank you (even when I don't mean it) And never spit or shout or even swear. I shall write each day in my diary Try my hardest to be helpful at school I shall help old ladies cross roads (even if they don't want to) And when others are rude I'll stay cool. I'll go to bed with the owls and be up with the larks And close every door behind me I shall squeeze from the bottom of every toothpaste tube And stay where trouble can't find me. I shall start again, turn over a new leaf, leave my bad old ways forever shall I start them this year, or next year shall I sometime, or .....?

Even though it feels like Christmas has just ended, and New Year's festivities flew by (almost literally), spring 2013 is just around the corner. I've been keeping a lookout for the new nail trends and it seems like contrast is the name of the game! Nail polish is a great way to complete a look, and will make your entire outfit look polished, so I definitely encourage investing in some great shades as well as a regular manicure. Now's the time to test out these looks, and see what kind of statement YOU'RE going to make. Here's a few ideas to get you going... PALE NAILS l DARK SHADES l SHINY METALLICS l FUN & EDGY l TWO-TONE

I admit, it is a blast to get caught up in all the glory of the holidays.  We want to purchase new outfits, get our hair done, try new makeup techniques etc.  Although, I truly believe sometimes simple is best.  Don't get me wrong, get out there experiment (I FULLY encourage it) but perhaps when time is a little more forgiving.  We, as women are beautiful  to begin with.  So why don't we bring it back down to earth, and let that inner beauty shine.  A few simple touches on the outside is all it takes ladies (classic black liner, a pop of color on the lid, bright/bold lips, or some gold shimmer).  Don't be scared to showcase your natural self.  No one else out there can do it except for you.  Here's a handful of inspirational/breath-taking photos of some stunning women. au naturel

So, it's been a while and here we are again.  Movember was, and is, always going to get men to give having facial hair a try.  The look of a hairy face is quite a trend and now that we're in 'Decembeard' you might notice more people sporting beards.  These days a good beard can go along way.  Mustaches are a little harder to pull off 11 months out of the year but a beard is quite simple. Long and full

You don't need to shave, just keep the hair you have in a specific area and keep the hair moisturized, combed and tidy.  Beards are great especially if you can get full coverage.  Here are some ideas.  For you guys who work in a corporate environment as long as you keep it tidy, it's all good!

Low and tight (also, what a great bag huh?)

Great beard, great hair...

So good!

P.S.  We carry the men's line Prospector Co.  This week all the products are on sale for 15% off.  What better time to try some beard oil!
