the fresh perspective?...

freshairboutique

So I'm not reviewing anything today but myself.  I posted tfp on August 13th and said a lot of things that didn't really happen.  I need to come clean and just tell you guys whats up.  I have copied and pasted my list from the 13th to ensure that I take full responsibility for the things that I had typed.  My answers will be 'bolded'.  Got it?  Good.

Here is the list of things I said were going to happen:

-we are getting a new website this month! still working on this... hit a bit of a glitch.

-we have some great promotions coming up to Christmas (yeah I said it...Christmas.  It is inevitable.).  done. malie. 'nuff said.

-we will be displaying the photos from our Freshair Boutique summer shoot. done.

-fresh.pop... 'nuff said... still working on this... hit a bit of a glitch.

-salon secrets party! done.

Wow, I did pretty okay on this list.  I was starting to feel bad about it but now that I see my list...not to shabby.   Making lists absolutely rules.  I love the accomplishment factor included in stroking things off...

We are now re-modeling our bathroom, so for anyone we forced to go to Starbucks, you are a winner.  It should be very useable by the week's end.  Our kids photo shoot was awesome and as soon as our images are up, you will know.  Thanks for still being loyal peeps and hanging in there. That's it for the fresh perspective...

Freshair Boutique So we're changing up tfp today.  Instead of reviewing a product of some sort I'll be reviewing Freshair Boutique.

We've been open for about a year and six months and things are looking good... It's not the same without Jacqui but Andree is a great addition to our squad!  Yup, we're the real deal and if you've been with us this whole time then you know all about that...  We just want our loyal peeps to know a few new things about us. If you are not a loyal peep stop reading.  Kidding! Go ahead...

That's just a little bit of what's about to be going on around here.  For you freshfood followers, our new site will have a new/same blog so remember to re-subscribe to it when we make the switch.

Our new receptionist Maegan, is keeping us all on our toes with the latest from Freshair Boutique on Facebook.  If you don't 'like' us already, you should.   You can still rely on me to serve you three times a week.  You will get your Praise post on Monday, the wordlessness on Wednesdays, and tfp on Saturdays.  If you didn't get it tfp is 'the fresh perspective'... Had a feeling some of you were wondering if I had a weird typing tick or something... No.  Just me trying to be relevant...

Okay. I think I covered it all and I hope you are all as excited as I am to take it to another level...inter-web style! What?!  That's it.  That's the fresh perspective...

Keep it in the closet?

freshairboutique

So today is August first and I did some serious purging (my closet that is).  I cleaned out our storage closet and took eight bags to Sally-Ann.  It is what it is, it's a long weekend and I cleaned out our storage closet.  It used to be on a long weekend I would have all kinds of social activities and now...closet cleaning... It's funny, the fact that many of us even have a closet only for storing things just tells me that I have a great life.   Most dwellings on earth are miniscule and I'm living in a 1500 square foot home with space for days...

I think that I will clean out my closet again in three months, I feel like once a year isn't enough.   Too much can be stored in 365 days so on November 1st I will purge again!!

Peace

Take me out to the ball game...or maybe not

freshairboutique

Just came back from  a baseball game and was having the time of my life when I got this nasty leg cramp! Yup, bottom of the seventh and I am breathing like I was in a lamaze class.  Picture it. Hee, hee, hoooooo.... It was awful! I had to stand up and try to get through it.  People are looking at me and my nine month belly as I'm breathing (like I was in labour) trying not to cry/laugh and be overcome with humiliation.  I believe there are some photos of me in mid-cramp that look like I'm about to deliver a child. Let me just say, that there is nothing more humbling than having an excellent leg cramp in the middle of a baseball game where everyone is staring at you because, a) you're nine months pregnant, and b) you're trying everything in your power to try and look 'cool'. I couldn't even sit down because my leg wouldn't bend!  I had to stand till it went away. Sigh... To make matters worse some geriatric lady was mad and wanted me to sit down because she couldn't see the game! What?!  Are you for real?!  You think I'm just standing and breathing like a douche face because I think it's funny?!  Do you?!  Really?!  What a loser (definitely not a winner).... It took everything in me not to tell her off afterwards.  It didn't even matter to me that she looked about 110 years old, I was pissed! Who talks like that.....

I'm not even sure there is a lesson to be learned here.  All I know is at least I didn't go into labour....  What if I did.  I bet geriatric lady would have told me to be quiet because she couldn't hear the announcer....  Oh, I'm sorry.. I'm just HAVING A BABY!! No biggie... I will add that while I was leaving the game I gave her a sideways look.  You know the type.  I'm lookin' at you, but am I?....  Sideways...  She felt it...

The Goldeyes lost 6-3.  We left at the bottom of the eighth.

Heat Wave...

freshairboutique

Last night I went out with some friends and we thought we should sit out on the patio and enjoy this last month of summer.  BIG MISTAKE!! It was so hot that I could feel the sweat literally dripping down my back. After 20 minutes in the heat we had to eat our dinner inside.  There was nothing we could do about the heat. Nothing.  When you're that hot you can't get more naked than naked and even then, you can't be out in public. Naked. Living in Winnipeg is frustrating because we don't get nice summers all the time.

There was a time when the summers were so great and you could count on them like clock work.  In the past few years our summers have been bad.  Either it was too cold, rained too much, too many mosquitoes...just crappity, crap, crap.  Now it's hot, and in consecutive days to boot, and here I am pseudo complaining?!  What the truck?!   I love to sun bathe but being 37 weeks pregnant really puts a damper on the sunning thing.  Doesn't feel good to lay in the sun when parts of your body are in constant contact with other parts of your body....

The heat may be good for your skin but it does some sick van damage to you hair.  Winnipeg humidity can take the best tresses and turn them into limpy, frizzy, poofy awfulness.  My recommendation for times like this is to just get it up and outta sight.  Load your hair up with some product and just pile it on top.  If your locks are short maybe throw a braid it the front to get it off your face and let the rest lie as it may.  The braid will give some interest to the sadness that is your hot mess of a hair do.  Braids are actually a great way to wear your hair during times like these... Too short in the front for a braid?  Just twist it back and pin, or stick a headband in it.

At the end of the day, I shouldn't even complain 'cause by October things will get real chilly and then what?  A whole new ball game that is ice cold...  As hot as it gets, or is going to get, lets try to enjoy the heat.  Nothing lasts forever and if you have an air conditioner you're laughing.  If not... well, nothing to laugh about.  At all...

Peace

Do Something

freshairboutique

Last night I watched the Do Something awards on VH1.  It was a very cool concept.  Celebs and normal people were being rewarded for making a difference in their communities and the world.  It was very inspiring and I felt like it was about time that we noticed the folks that do something. This morning on the way to work it hit me.  I love my job!  I don't know how many people can say that about their chosen career paths but I think it's makes a difference in the overall view of my life.  It doesn't hurt that I work with the most coolest ladies of all time.  Some are designers and the other are stylists and they inspire me ALL THE TIME.  Just a side bar about creative people.  I hate when people think that being creative means you have a get out of jail free card for messing up.  You know the type, "oh, she a hairstylist so..." or "that guy? he's an artist".  So bogus.  Creative people can have a decent balance between their left and their right side of their brains.  Take me for example, I used to be sooper wacky (yep, spelt it with two o's...left brained) and as I have gotten older I realize that I can still wear make-up on one eye and be taken seriously... Ok, seriously, maybe not the make-up on one eye but you get my drift.   Creative folks add just as much to the richness of society as the non-creatives... It's almost like we give people reasons to chat, i.e. Lady Gaga.  She takes doing something to a whole new level but I can't fault her...  She probably inspired a lot of young girls and designer/artists to stay true to their craft as crazy as it seems.

Back to the meat and potatoes of my rant:  Just try something different.  Compliment someone.  Motivate a stranger.  If you always choose 'A', next time choose 'B'.  It simply cannot hurt.  Try bangs the next time you're in your stylist chair or maybe go lighter/darker with your next color.  Call up and old friend or make a decision you would usually never make.  Do something for yourself and then maybe for someone else...  I'm gonna give it to you straight, if you're not the type to 'do something' it might take you a few times before you get the cojones ( pronounced ka' hones, a vulgar spanish word for testicles, denoting courage) to do it, but if you entertain it one day you will.  I promise.  You will.  It just takes a bit of time.  If you think that you could never try something new or do something different then I guess start there.  Start thinking about doing something.  That's it, that's all...
