NAIL ART INSPIRATION

Madeline Poole: nail art guru.

Getting inspiration from other professionals is so great. I've posted many times about nails and nail art, but I feel this industry is forever changing. The possibilities are endless, and some people just keep "nailing" it. Madeline Poole is one of those people. Her stuff is so clean, colorful, original, wild, yet classy. She hits every point of nail art that I love.

TOP SHELF

Here are my three favorite products of the moment.  I simply cannot live without them.

We all have our go-to hair and makeup products.  Finding those right ones can be a bit of a process.  You need products that aren't only high quality, but work for your skin and hair type specifically (everyone's are different.)

1. KEVIN MURPHY- Young Again (hair serum)

young again

This serum is AMAZING.  I've been dying my hair for at least 13 years, so you can only imagine how dry and brittle it can get.  Ever since we've started carrying Kevin Murphy products at my salon, I've been addicted to this one.  I usually put about two pumps in my hair after I get out of the shower, and throw in an extra pump every other day when my hair is dry.  It's never felt so smooth without feeling greasy.

2. PURE ANADA- Black Mascara

pure anada

We've recently just started carrying this mascara at work, but 90% of us are already hooked.  Our eyes are incredibly important, so we should treat them well.  Makeup can be quite harmful, but finding natural makeup, including mascara, that actually works can be difficult.  Pure Anada's mascara is naturally paraben-free, gluten-free, and mercury-free.  Not only that, but it does a fantastic job of adding the appearance of length and volume to your natural set of lashes.  What more could you ask for?

3. MAILIE- Koke'e Body Polish

kokes-scrub_952_general

This body scrub is the perfect balance of grit and oil.  The organic sugar makes it gentle enough to use over your entire body (minus your face) yet does the trick of sloughing off all those dead skin cells.  Meanwhile the combination of organic jojoba, sunflower, castor, and extra virgin coconut oil create the perfect amount of moisture that skin lacks, with a scent that is to die for.

Those are three products that I would recommend anyone giving a fair shot.  What are your top three??

PRODUCT REVIEW

Seche Vite Top Coat

For all of us out there who love painting our nails, a quality top coat is the main kicker. Something that will hold all those layers in, keep that shine, and is relatively "chip-free..."

seche vite

I have used quite a number of different top coats in my years as an esthetician, as well as in my high school days. I've always loved painting my nails, but there's no denying that regular polish chips.

Seche Vite is definitely my favorite top coat for regular nail polish at the moment. It'll help lengthen the wear of your polish by a few days for sure. It has a thicker consistency, so don't be frightened, it still goes on very smooth and evenly. The fact that it's also fast drying is a huge bonus for us who don't have hours to sit a dry.

blue nails

As a heads up, once you're about half-way through the bottle, you'll notice that it starts to get even thicker. From the amount of use, and oxygen getting into the bottle its losing its natural consistency. All you need to do is add a few drops of nail thinner to bring it back to life. Just make sure you don't over thin it, because it won't have its lasting power at that point. Having a polish thinner on hand is great for all polishes, whether it be base coat, colors, or top coats. It gives it a longer shelf life to get the most use out of your bottles.

So go grab your favorite polish, paint your nails and try Seche Vite. I highly recommend it.

BEAUTIFYING ELIXIRS 0_0_0_0_542_244_csupload_56500190This is a new product line we've been trying for a little while. Still natural, still good for you and your hairs. Beautifying Elixirs is a unique line formulated for specifically damaged, processed or dry hair. The price point is quite high, so if your locks are healthy and shiny or if you've never colored you hair, it's not for you.

There is absolutely NO WATER in any of the products so they are quite concentrated and potent. You don't need much because a little really goes a long way. There are two shampoo and conditioner combos, a curl cream, a masque, a hairspray, a detangler/thermal spray, and the actual elixir.

Another great feature about this line is that all nine products have heat protection, UV protection and color protection. No sulphates, phthalates, parabens, or any of that yucky stuff. You just need to try.

For the month of September we would like to get you to try these products, if indeed you are a good candidate. We are selling the shampoo and you get the conditioner free. We know everyone enjoys a good BOGO....

Stay tuned for the details and if your interested come try it out! That's the fresh perspective...

WEDDINGS

Months, if not YEARS go into planning the big day.  The amount of effort put into all the details is incredible.  Yet somehow, it seems to fly by...

Fear not, these things will never be lost nor forgotten.  These memories are the ones that stay with us forever, and each hold a special place in our hearts.  Although, in this day and age, wedding photography is a booming business and rightfully so.  It is super important to have those consults with your photographer to make sure they have the same understanding of what you're wanting to capture on that one and only day.  Word of mouth, and proof of work are key.  The internet is a great tool to scope your options.  Here are some Winnipeg photographers that I find to be unbelievably talented, and would do your very special day more than justice (just incase you're in the market)...

I am not married myself, but I have the absolute pleasure of standing up for my brother, my very best friend, in a week and a half.  I could not be happier.
