New month, new 'tude

freshairboutique

So here we are again...

This month is going to be bananas!! I have so much going on and I know that the month WILL fly by faster than normal.  Wanna quick synopsis? Well I'm giving it to you anyways...  I got a friend visiting from Ireland (gotta chill with her a few times), gotta a wedding to attend, a few classes to teach, two bridal showers, a Dr's appointment for the status of my fetus (I'm due in 5 weeks), a pseudo baby shower, a T.V. interview and um yeah, a dinner party.  Yowza!

This month my attitude is gong to be new and improved.  Not that my attitude as of late has been stank, but I think that I should probably ship up for the busy month that I have in front of me.  I find that when I have stuff going on, a little pep talk to get me in the zone has never hurt.  Actually, it helps me focus on the tasks that need to get done.  Fortunately, when this month is over I should have a new small child and have accomplished so much.  Whew...

So, here I go...

I'm Baaack....

freshairboutique

Well, well, well, it's been a long time since I've been here. I've been doing a little soul-searching and I think that I'm going to do a little updating with this blog thing.

I've been on other people's blogs and I think I gotta revamp the Freshair Boutique one. That's gonna be what I'll be working on for the next few weeks? I don't know how long it'll take but I anticipate it'll be a while I think...

So, yeah, stay tuned and if you're ever in the neighborhood come stop in for a brownie and some tea! We'd love to see you!

Peace

Music makes me lose control...

freshairboutique

Ok, so I'm a huge fan of music and I'm feeling that with my busy life I'm not as involved as I used to be. I can remember having an anthem for almost every stage in my life. I love to dance and used to attend any party that would allow me to lose control. I also used to buy a boatload of CD's. Huh... The last CD I bought was at Starbucks, haven't been to HMV in years.

I don't even know what the hits are unless I listen to the radio and I find that I really don't like any of the top 40 songs. Maybe it's my age. I'm watching VH1's hip hop honours and they are honouring 'the dirty south'. There are so many artists that I forgot about and watching this show made me realize how out of touch I am with some music. I vowed last week to start buying CD's again starting with M.I.A's new album. I have her first two albums but as CD's go, I lent them out and now they are both scratched... That's the main reason I hate CD's man, they just get scratched up and there is nothing worse than a skipping record.

I made a list of all the concerts I've been to in the past five years and I think I've seen over thirty artists and my list is quite eclectic... From Rod Stewart to the Game, I have seen so many bands and I appreciate all types of music. I love instruments, especially horns and strings, and beautiful vocals like Bilal and Marvin Gaye. For the month of June my new thing will be to buy some new music.

On a side note, it's been over three weeks since I have had naked toes and I must say that I like it only if I have pedicured feet on the regular.

Blah, blah, blah....

Went to a May long house party yesterday and had THE BEST time. Good music, friends and food! To carry on from last week's food entry I'm gonna go a step further... I'm looking for a perfect macaroni and cheese recipe. At the party yesterday I had some bomb macaroni and cheese or some sort of pasta and cheese bake. Needless to say it was the truth... So as I search for the perfect caesar salad dressing I am also searching for the best mac and cheese.

The recipe I currently have is okay. A little bland, and the cheese gets a little curdled or something... I dunno if it's the recipe or how I'm making it. Ah well...

Total side bar, by the end of June I'll be entering my third and final trimester. I'm hoping that I'll still be able to keep this up once a week but I guess we'll see. Also I have had bare toes for about two weeks now and I don't mind it too much. I think I'll get them painted when I go on holidays and then after that I think I'll do the nude look again... We'll see how much of my belly gets in the way when I try to remove the polish. Okay folks, I'm out for the night...till next week.

Peace

Fresh Food!!

freshairboutique

So, this afternoon I was setting up my patio set on the deck and decided that my family and I will be eating dinner outside asap. I'd like to do it soon cause right now there aren't any mosquitoes. My daughter and I enjoyed a thin crust spinach pizza this afternoon for our late lunch and it was so beautiful outside. Summertime for me makes everything better. I love running errands this time of year...I love doing anything actually when it's sunny out and there is a cool breeze.

I have been doing this menu planning thing for about two months now and I realize that with the onset of the nice whether I should be incorporating more salads into my meals. The 'menu' thing I speak of consists of me planning out about two weeks worth of meals and then grocery shopping for the main ingredients. Somethings I buy the day of so I can have it fresh, but generally I grab all the stuff when I do my full grocery shopping about every two weeks. I felt that I fell into a rut making the same seven things until now. This new way allows me to look through all my cookbooks and pick out some new recipes. I must say that so far all my new picks went over well except for my Pad Thai variation that I made for my husband. Let's just say it didn't 'sit' well. In my own defence the recipe called for shrimp (which I made for myself) and I substituted beef for the version I made for him. Maybe that was a bad choice...

Side bar...I love caesar salad but I think it's time to branch out a little bit. I'm going to look for a salad cookbook and go nuts. Folks, I'm branching out!! My branching out will consist of eating fresh salads on my deck without any polish on my toes. Ha!
